“A Call for Honesty, Compassion, and Common Sense Amid a Climate Crisis”
How absurd, how childish, how immature, how stupid…
“Kamala Harris causing hurricanes by using a weather machine.”
These are conspiracies that not even a kindergarten child would dream up. How deranged do you have to be to follow the lies and misinformation of those who deny or support the fossil fuel industry by fabricating sheer nonsense? I am in awe at the level of stupidity.
Let’s do some defining of those who do things like this, shall we:
- Conspiracist: A person who believes in or promotes conspiracy theories.
- Conspiracy believer: Someone who subscribes to conspiracy theories.
- Paranoid thinker: A term that can describe someone who sees conspiracies in various events or situations.
- Conspiracy advocate: A person actively promoting conspiracy theories.
- Dissenter: Someone who opposes official narratives or widely accepted beliefs, often associated with conspiracy thinking.
- Skeptic: While not a direct synonym, this term can apply to those questioning mainstream explanations, sometimes leading to conspiracy theories.
These terms vary in connotation and context, but we must consider the specific impact of these conspiracies and the damage they cause.
Look, we are facing a very real Climate and Ecological Emergency, and at this point, it doesn’t even take a climate scientist to say it anymore—they’ve been warning us for decades. The idea that someone can spread misinformation while people are losing their belongings, their livelihoods, and even their lives is horrifying. The level of apathy is astounding, to say the least.
People who do this create what I call a ‘Character Jacket’—they end up going through life in a perpetual state of misery and complaint. Everything affects them, and they have grievances about everything. In this case, with an upcoming election, these conspiracies serve as nothing more than distractions—an effort to cause division and propagate misleading scenarios.
It is time now for a ‘New Way Forward’, one based on kindness, honesty, compassion, and empathy.
